Welcome!

Welcome to the home page for The Lancet Commission on Global Hearing Loss.

The Commission will complement and extend ongoing efforts by WHO (World Report) and other international organizations. Commissioners include world experts in otology, audiology, neuroscience, technology, engineering, public health and public policy, economic analysis, as well as the perspective of persons living with hearing loss. Most regions of the world are represented. An important goal of the Commission is to introduce innovative and ‘disruptive’ ideas, to challenge the status quo regarding hearing loss identification and treatment worldwide.

The map shows the current and projected number of people with hearing loss in different regions. Projections show that the number of people with disabling hearing loss will increase in all regions.
